Our Mission As a vital ministry of Byne Memorial Baptist Church, our mission is to partner with the family and the church to train and equip students to reach their full potential spiritually, academically, socially, and physically so that students will become more like Christ.
Our Philosophy The purpose of Byne Christian School is to provide conditions whereby boys and girls can receive the Truth. Jesus instructed His disciples in John 8:32, "And ye shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you free." Not only is it our objective to teach the Truth but also teach our students how to apply the Truth wisely to their own lives. In John 16:13 we are promised that "...when He, the Spirit of Truth is come, He will guide you into all truth."
Our Christian school has the responsibility to provide the best possible education. A Biblical viewpoint in the vital areas of life - spiritual growth, education, personal self- discipline, and patriotism are emphasized to each student during his years of training. We desire to minister to the needs of the whole child and to promote his spiritual and moral growth, academic and intellectual progress, and physical and social development. Additionally, our Christian School is to be an extension of the home and church, and thus provide a continuity of training for young people. We, as Christian educators, desire to train each student to accept individual responsibility to God for his actions and challenge him to glorify God in every facet of his life.
Our Core Values In order to successfully fulfill its mission, Byne Christian School gives priority to five core values.
1. Biblical integration 2. Partnership with parents 3. The Great Commission 4. Moral and spiritual character 5. History Byne Christian School (originally Byne Memorial Baptist School), a ministry of Byne Memorial Baptist Church started operation on August 29, 1983. The original school board was elected by the church and consisted of nine members. The group of individuals were convicted of the need of a Christian school in Albany. Over a two month period, teachers were hired and spent a week at Pensacola Christian School learning the Abeka method. During this period desks and materials were brought in. Mrs. Jane Rucks was hired to be the first headmaster. God continued to open doors and Byne School welcomed more than 200 students and 16 faculty members. In the first year, the school offered K4 – 10th grade. The 11th grade was scheduled through special correspondence with two students and one-bi-weekly volunteer supervisor. The first graduates were students from the class of 1985. Mr. Jerome Granade became the headmaster in 1985 and led the school until December 2005. During that time period, a program for special needs students, an enhanced sports program, drama program, computer instruction, A.R. program and A.P. classes were added to the school’s offering. Byne Memorial Baptist Church acquired land on which to build a new church. A three phase program brought the Child Development Center, K1 through Grade 5, and finally the middle and high school grades to the new facility. During this transition period, the computer labs were upgraded, an elementary soccer program was initiated and a foreign language program was presented to the elementary students. Our first year as a combined campus, saw an enrollment of close to 300 students. In December of 2006, Mr. Granade resigned and Mr. Jon Pirtle became acting Headmaster. In June of 2006, Mr. John Davis, a veteran Administrator became Headmaster. While Mr. Davis was Headmaster the school strove for excellence in academics, spiritual growth, and community service. Under his leadership the school went through a successful re-accreditaiton approval process. In August of 2008, Mr. David Bess came to be Headmaster.
